Circular Lighting Live
At Recolight’s ‘Circular Lighting Live 2025’ Paul shared his thoughts on how the lighting industry can move towards net zero carbon and presented how our 18 Circular initiative has evolved since introducing the concept at last year’s conference.
At the ‘Moonshot Panel’ Paul took the floor alongside alongside industry experts Hattie Emerson (Sustainability Consultant), Gilli Hobbs (Director & Co-founder at Reusefully), Adrianna Barr (Senior Lighting Designer at WSP), and Nigel Harvey (CEO of Recolight). In this dynamic discussion, the panel considered a range of ambitious approaches and both creative and disruptive ideas to accelerate the lighting industry’s transformation into a circular economy.
In the ‘Creative Cat A’ session, Paul asked ‘What if Cat A lighting could be rented and reused?’. He shared the story behind 18 Circular — a radical rethink of the Cat A lighting supply chain anchored in circular economy principles. From the earliest concept to practical pilot projects and stakeholder buy-in, Paul charted the project’s evolution and the real-world hurdles faced along the way.
Waste and low utilisation of luminaires remains one of the biggest environmental challenges in lighting. Through 18 Circular we’re working to change this in a way that creates value for our clients and the industry.
